Make every customer service interaction a more human one

Our mission is to help you build a company people love.

Be outcome-oriented.

“That’s not my job” is not a phrase you’ll hear at Help Scout. Ownership means pushing towards greatness together, regardless of title, role, and responsibility.

Thoughtful Impact

Helpfulness means it’s all about the other person. It’s less about being over-the-top friendly and more about giving people what they need in the moment so they can move to the next thing. It’s about letting people know you’re there without getting in the way.

People at Help Scout love to help.

Take pride in your craft.

Sweat the small stuff, and know that excellence in any one piece increases the potential of the whole project. Every job you do has your signature on it, so sign with pride.

Working at Help Scout

Stay customer-driven.

Hiring Process

Since we’re a remote company, the glue that binds together our hiring process from start to finish is video chat. Here’s what our process looks like.

  1. Value add - You'll have a video call with the hiring manager to get to know you and see if you have potential to be a great addition to the team.

  2. Tech screen You’ll have a video call with one of your potential teammates to dive into more questions around skills and experience.

  3. Logistics chat - You'll have a video call with a People Ops teammate to go over fun things like salary expectations, the benefits we offer, and dig into our company culture.

  4. Take-home project - At this stage, you'll receive a relevant take-home project that gives you a chance to showcase your skills (and we'll pay you for your time).

  5. Final chat - You’ll have one more video call, likely with someone from our leadership team.

  6. References - We ask to chat with three references. Preferably, at least two should be previous managers.

  7. Offer - We make an offer to a candidate we feel is the best addition to our team!
